Position Summary

The primary functions of this position:

Receive telephone calls, handles and logs requests for patient information and assist visitors/customers.

Perform functions necessary to organize, maintain and use patient medical records that are maintained in paper, microfilm, and electronic formats.

Perform administrative clerical tasks, e.g., take and prepare meeting minutes, input data and prepare statistical reports for HIS committees, etc,

Assist with other designated clerical tasks as needed.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Post high school education preferred to include specialized health care related subjects, e.g., records management, medical terminology, computer classes, use of office equipment, i.e., fax machine, copy machine, multi-line phone system.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in Health Information Management field or as administrative assistant in a physician''s office or in other health related field. Knowledge of DHEC, JCAHO, and CMS documentation requirements preferred. Experience in using an electronic health record preferred. Experience in use of Meditech computer system preferred.
