Silgan PCS, under the umbrella of Silgan Holdings, is a plastic enclosure manufacturing facility located in the beautiful mountains of northeast Tennessee is looking to add to the team. We currently have two locations in Kingsport, TN and employ over 200 people. We service and make caps for the milk, water and juice industries. Position
Summary:
Responsible for the development and implementation of standards pertaining to new mold tryouts, cycle time reduction, and operating procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinates new mold tryouts.
Trouble-shoots existing mold cycles.
Develops standard cycles for all mold types.
Recommend mold and equipment design enhancements to improve safety, operational and cost performance.
Participates in special projects on an as needed basis. Includes participation in corrective action teams for customer complaints or other improvements activities such six sigma projects. Implementation of new product lines.
Develops and implement appropriate statistical tools to measure and improve outgoing quality.
Evaluates and offer key design inputs regarding post-molding parts handling systems.
Develops and document key mold design criteria in concert with Production and Tooling.
Develops and initiate a training program in injection molding technology.
Provides key inputs to Quality and R & D on product design specifications and tolerances.
Brings a Design of Experiments methodology to the production floor as a problem-solving tool.
Seeks to understand Root Cause Failure using analysis tools such as 5Y's, 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fishbone Diagrams, and Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, Customer Analysis.
Interfaces at all levels within the plant organization.
Assists with ISO 9001 audits and resolution of NCR's. Provide technical training to the existing staff in achieving optimal processes and in developing other technical skills
Assures all safety, manufacturing, and housekeeping requirements are met.
Identifies and participates in continuous improvement activities.
Job Requirements :
Essential Job Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum 0-3 years injection molding experience.
BSPL, BSME or equivalent degree.
Statistical tools competency.
Computer literacy (MS Office, CAD)
Proven capability of data driven analysis for problem solving
Capable of using the Plan - Do - Check - Adjust model through all aspects of the business.
Capable of using data and tools to communicate to all levels of the organization.
Ability to utilize both production and maintenance personnel to assist in both ownership of the work cell and solving problems together.
Understanding of daily activities driving Organizational Equipment Efficiencies and their financial impact.
Proven use of problem solving tools to dig into large issues to identify possible solutions, develop a plan of attack, execution of the plan, and then validation of activities to results.
Use of statistical analysis to determine possible root cause of problems.
Use of prioritization matrix as a tool to determine proper utilization of both time and resources.
Physical Requirements:
Repetitive bending from the upright position to approximately a 35-degree angle. Ability to transport boxes weighing up to 27 lbs.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
