Daktronics, Inc designs, manufactures and sells a wide range of display systems to customers in a variety of markets throughout the world. We focus our sales and marketing efforts on geographical regions, markets and products. The primary categories of markets include Live Events, Commercial, Transportation, Schools and Theatres and International. Daktronics manufacturing follows a focus factory concept paralleling these five markets.
Sports market customers include schools, colleges and universities, professional teams and facilities, sports federations, and international events and organizing committees. Commercial customers include financial institutions, hotels and motels, gaming, auto dealers, convenience stores, shopping centers, Out of Home advertisers, and other retail establishments. Transportation applications include display systems for state and city departments of transportation, mass transit systems, airlines and airports, bus terminals and other transportation agencies.
This position will focus on electrical design within the Commercial Products Engineering Department but will coordinate efforts with other markets to utilize platform product setups.
1. Communicate with mechanical and electrical system engineers, design engineers, as well as fellow product designers to ensure proper design parameters for developments are being met and consistent with corporate standards.
2. Produce documentation for manufacturing production lines and installation tasks utilizing AutoCAD and Windchill/Creo.
3. Product development responsibilities to include: discovery and research of components, wiring, and connectors; lean system thinking for process improvements; prototyping and testing phases of the development cycle; producing documentation that meet product needs; working with third-party testing agencies on product safety certification.
4. Work with suppliers to research, identify and select components to be used in products.
5. Occasional travel to perform site visits, assist with design implementation in field, troubleshoot design problems in field, and understand product installations.
6. Work effectively both independently and also as a team member.
7. Contribute to product and process improvement efforts.
8. Work with manufacturing on implementation of designs and be point of contact for inquiries.
9. Work effectively as a team member, work with little supervision, and communicate effectively with sales, project management, manufacturing, customer service, customers and team members.
10. Use good judgment and make good decisions in difficult situations.
11. Consistently complete work in a timely manner.
12. Perform other duties as assigned and required to meet customer and development expectations.
13. Become knowledgeable of company policies and procedures along with other company products
14. Strive for personal growth and continued increase in contribution to the team environment.
Requirements
1. Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology required.
2. Reasonable knowledge of Daktronics products preferred or ability to learn products quickly.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
4. Computer software experience to include Pro/E, AutoCAD, Glovia, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point), and Sharepoint. Ability to learn Daktronics computer systems and software.
5. Must be detail oriented, have the ability to perform research and develop new products and processes. Organizational, planning, and creative problem solving skills also desired.
6. Willing and able to travel via air and ground transportation. Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
7. Able to work on job sites and assist with installations. This may include climbing ladders, working at various heights, carrying equipment (50 pounds or more) and working outdoors.
8. Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
9. Background check will be conducted.
