The Senior Accountant, Corporate Accountingwill fill a key
role within the Finance organization. This position will be responsible for a
combination of operational accounting, technical research, and financial
reporting. The Senior Accountant role will
be involved in the accounting for derivatives and debt and it is expected that
the position will lead internal initiatives related to these areas. The position may also be secondarily involved
with stock-based compensation and equity accounting among other areas. The Senior Accountant role will be expected
to produce and/or review sets of audited financial statements. On an as needed basis, the position will also
conduct initial research and complete documentation on certain technical
accounting transactions/topics.
In performing this role, the Senior Accountant will be
expected to interact positively and effectively with all levels of the
organization. The position will consult
with department management as well as legal, treasury, IT, and operational
personnel in order to understand transactions and agreements. As part of that involvement, the Senior
Accountant will be expected to make solid recommendations and find solutions to
accomplish goals, proposing alternative ways to structure transactions or
improve operations if necessary.
The ideal candidate will have financial and technical
accounting experience, strong leadership skills, critical thinking proficiency,
strong communication, selling and collaboration skills. A constant positive
attitude and one of resourcefulness will be key to success. The candidate must be able to juggle many
different priorities/projects and work effectively in a teaming and matrix
reporting environment. The candidate must have the ability to communicate and
relate to senior leadership and all levels of personnel within the
organization. The candidate must be able to meet the demands of a rapidly
growing, fast paced, complex and entrepreneurial environment.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Ensure appropriate accounting treatment and maintenance of documentation
for all derivative transactions
Appropriately account for all debt related activities and
document unique transactions
For assigned technical research items, document completely and
timely the transaction details, related GAAP guidance, and conclusions
Prepare and/or review multiple sets of audited financial
statements for issuance
Establish strong working relationships with the Company's
Treasury and Corporate Consolidations teams as well as the external auditors
Provide multiple alternatives for success to operational
decision makers when asked for assistance
Be a team member on monthly close activities and ensure all
financial reporting deadlines are met
Complete and/or review journal entries and account
reconciliations as necessary
Enhance the documentation of key internal controls,
processes, and procedures
Identify best practices and create ideas for process
improvements or automation opportunities
Qualifications:
Proven track record of professional excellence
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (MBA or advanced degree is a
plus)
CPA certification preferred
2 to 4 years of professional experience. Combination of public accounting and private
industry is a plus
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills
Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, and
communication skills, both orally and written
Strong financial systems aptitude
Strong proficiency with Excel
A self-starter that is action and results oriented

Qualifications:
Self-motivated, possess great initiative
Strong technical accounting skills, accounting theory, and GAAP principles
Systems aptitude and familiarity with accounting software packages
Able to prepare and enter journal entries
Able to manage multiple priorities while still meeting deadlines in a fast paced environment
Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills
Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction for direct supervisor to accomplish tasks and objectives
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) at various levels of management and with external agencies
Awareness of appropriate internal controls
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree; a current CPA Certification is preferred. This position also requires 5 years experience in general accounting; experiences with IFRS, international operations, foreign currency transactions and translation and intercompany accounting are a definite plus.
