The Windows Server Engineer works at the highest systems level to provide advice and direction to users, management and IT project teams for systems that are complex in nature. Evaluates new technologies and develops departmental standard practices. Is able to engineer platform upgrades and large scale system integrations. Is recognized as a technical leader within the department and organization, with emphasis on the Windows Production and non-Production environment. Has the ability to demonstrate breadth of knowledge across multiple areas of information technology. The candidate may be a key team member on strategic or enterprise-wide technology projects or issues.
The Windows Server Engineering Team responsibilities include, end to end responsibility for all Windows Server based operating system and server platforms related functions. To work effectively in this role, the engineer must have expert understanding of the Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server Operating System, VMWare ESX, server hardware, and software packaging. This position also requires a strong understanding of software architectures and the SDLC.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with other technical groups locally and remotely.
Work with Information Security to address vulnerabilities and find the appropriate fixes.
Work closely with Windows & VMware engineering team in analyzing and designing Windows Operating System best practices.
Interface with Data Center Operations to ensure server is installed in a timely manner.
Interact with customer technical staff, R&D and 3rd party Vendors.
Communicate with vendors and other groups to determine needs.
Be a point of technical coordination escalation for on-site problems and issues if escalated to Level 3.
Design, implementation and operation of all Windows Server Infrastructure.
Design, implementation of Virtualization strategies.
Design, implementation of Directory Services, and Identity Management Strategies.
Strong understanding of networking, infrastructure and client side architectures, software lifecycle, and system design including networking and IP address management.
Understand requested changes to our standard toolsets, its configuration and implications to all user areas.
Works with all development areas to scope, develop and test approved changes.
Extensive troubleshooting and performance monitoring skills to assist in 3rd level support.
Extensive experience of the following:
Windows Server 2012 Operating System.
Windows Server 2008 Operating System.
Windows Server 2003 Operating System.
VMWare ESX/ESXi 4.X.
VMware ESXi 5.x
SCCM 2007/2012
IBM Big Fix (Tivoli Endpoint Manager)
Implement High Availability strategies
Must understand network architecture/specific network components and design infrastructure within that architecture.
Development and Operations background with excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Application load balancing and recovery mechanisms a plus.
Willingness to participate in 24/7 on call service and emergency onsite support if necessary.
Must be able to prepare, present, and maintain technical documentation.
Ability to establish and define automated system installation/configuration procedures.
Ability to create System Run Books, defining day-to-day support, maintenance, troubleshooting knowledgebase of the infrastructure.
Requirements:
4 year college degree

years of experience
Scripting languages: Perl, VB, Powershell, Batch Scripts required.
Skilled in the development or re-engineering of systems and processes.
Strong knowledge and understanding of the following:
Network infrastructures (Cisco Nexus, Juniper Firewalls, Citrix Nescaler etc).
Network communication protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS, RMI, RPC, etc).
Systems and Database (SQL) administration is a plus.
Microsoft Clustering (Windows & SQL)
Storage Infrastructures (XIV, EMC VMAX, DMX, Cisco MDS).
Enterprise Configuration Management Utilities (Bladelogic)
Enterprise Management (Tivoli, SCOM, BMC Performance, Remedy).
Strong understanding of networking, infrastructure and client side architectures, software lifecycle, and system design.
Expert knowledge in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM 2007, 2012) and IBM Big Fix (Tivoli Endpoint Manager).
Expert knowledge in Active Directory (Windows 2000 thru Windows 2008), DNS, OU design and management, AD Site design, Group Policy, AD security, AD certificate services, LDAP, Kerberos, Global Catalog, WINS, DHCP, DFS, FRS, AD troubleshooting, and AD recovery.
Working knowledge of AD migration tools such as Quest Migration Manager (QMM), Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT), etc
Working knowledge of AD management tools from Quest such as Change Auditor for AD, Reporter, Recovery Manager for AD Forest Edition, Active Roles Server, Quick Connect, GPOAdmin, etc
Working knowledge of Centrify Direct Control in order to integrate UNIX, MAC, and ESX hosts into AD.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply them towards the investigation of existing installations.
Should have an understanding of current industry trends and their advantages with ability to right fit into an existing environment.
Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environmEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
