Allied Search Partners is working with a client that has an opening for a Medical Technologist in their Core Lab (Special Chemistry/Specialty Testing) department in Springfield, Oregon. This position will be on the bench 50% of the time and will participate in holiday and weekend rotations.
JOB SUMMARY
In addition to the general duties of a Medical Technologist, the Technical Specialist provides specialized clinical laboratory services, technical support and research and development activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs the duties found in the Medical Technologist job profile as it relates to tests and procedures.
Performs duties as technical expert by: providing technical support to technologists for all instruments; providing technical support to providers, caregivers and clients; developing and performing validation protocols for all new tests and instruments; performing competency evaluation for staff medical technologists, medical laboratory technicians and laboratory assistants; providing training on new equipment and new test procedures
Assists in ensuring quality services by: ensuring that equipment preventative maintenance is performed on a regular schedule; reviewing and preparing daily quality control and quality assurance reports on a regular schedule for submission to laboratory leadership; monitoring cost and efficiency of established procedures and making improvement recommendations to leadership; completing College of American Pathologists (CAP)
Ensures current theory and technique skills by: maintaining an in-depth knowledge and instrumentation theory and methodology in order to enhance problem-solving abilities and continually improve the quality of services offered; engaging in independent and/or cooperative research and development of clinical services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree required
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Minimum of 5 years experience in a clinical chemistry laboratory setting
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Certified Medical Technologist, ASCP or equivalent required
ASCP Specialist certification in area of expertise desirable
OTHERS SKILLS:
Good written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team
Must be detail oriented with strong analysis/problem solving skills.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
