The Director of Supply Chain plans, directs, and coordinates programs and processes to ensure material availability and delivery in support of the business. Coordinates materials requirements and just-in-time deliveries with vendors, engineering, and manufacturing for the business. Manage the Supplier base from a Strategic, Operational & Logistic Support perspective and to drive best value (cost, delivery, quality and service) from Suppliers throughout the life cycle of each product. This position is to oversee the review and negotiation of purchase price, availability, delivery and other factors necessary to ensure the overall company objectives.
Develop and maintain Purchasing and Supply Management objectives and KPI's through leadership of all purchased commodities. To define and ensure execution of projects in the areas of:
Sourcing
Cost Reduction
Low Cost Country Sourcing
Escalation point for commercial issues
Operations based purchasing
Logistics
Reviews and analyzes production plans, bill-of-materials, and engineering change notices to determine types, quantities, variations, specifications, and proposed delivery of all materials, parts, and supplies that support the manufacture of products.
Develops and analyzes continuous material flow to the manufacturing areas.
Confers with engineering and others to establish quality standards for materials, parts, and supplies. Develops quality and cost standards, obtains special information (manuals and diagrams) about parts specifications, vendor reliability, and delivery times.
Oversees and maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure just-in-time deliveries to support manufacturing requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
Converts production control planning and scheduling programs to meet materials forecasts and to balance the level of inventory to support manufacturing.
Develops and maintains continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, and delivery.
Keeps up-to-date knowledge of materials, pricing trends, and vendor information that affects or enhances the ability of the business to get parts and materials.
Develop programs for potential cost improvements within the procurement process that will continually improve support to the manufacturing materials availability and time needs.
Develops, establishes, and maintains reporting systems to support the materials function.
Coordinates material requirements planning using the lean manufacturing philosophy.
Be responsible for generating Supplier Agreements to define prices, lead-times, replenishment mechanisms, trading terms & conditions with Supplier base. This shall include agreements with long-term partner suppliers involved in multi-year commitments.
Be responsible for identifying and working with other Terex locations to maximize leveraging opportunities across the group.
Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Production and Inventory Control, Business or Engineering or the relevant discipline.
5 or more years of continuous and progressively responsible experience working in an industrial products materials function or equivalent.
5 or more years' experience in a supplier management leadership role and prior Lean Manufacturing experience.
5 or more years experience developing and coaching direct reports
Preferred Qualifications
CPM and APICS a plus.
Prefers knowledge and specialization in the principles and methods of integrating a materials procurement and inventory control function with assembly and sub-assembly processes to manufacture products.
Advanced and in-depth knowledge of production planning, inventory control and planning, and production methods including automated systems such as MRP II.
Knowledge of KanBan systems and e-procurement and sufficient human relations skill to conduct in-service training, establish productive relationships with vendors, resolve conflict, and achieve harmony with multiple large groups of team members.
Sufficient problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such as material shortages, quality, delivery problems, and plant safety.
Experience in implementation of cost savings and PPV Programs. Software skills should include Microsoft Suite.
Demonstrated leadership skills that creates an engaged Team Member environment
Knowledge of all aspects of Supply Management including Sourcing, Negotiation, Supplier Management, New Product Introduction & logistics.
Strong commercial/business acumen
Good negotiation and persuasion skills. Ability to convince others and influence outcome.
Proven warehouse leadership experience
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodology (lean manufacturing)
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of internal management, staff as well as outside clients and vendors
High degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion required
Exceptional communication and people skills
Experience with budget management
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Able and willing to change the status quo and effectively champion change
