Steering columns & I shafts design engineer, responsible for the design and release of ZFLS steering products. Additionally, functions as technical/design interface to customers.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides steering columns and I shafts product support at all levels to OEM engineering & manufacturing facilities
Designs steering columns and I shafts that support customer requirements and specifications following ZFLS product development processes.
Develops/maintain/releases math data using CAD packages such as Unigraphic and Catia and PDM packages such as TeamCenter.
Develops/maintains/releases drawings/specifications using ZFLS tools (Axalant) and processes.
Develops/maintains/releases bills of material using ZFLS tools (Axalant) and processes.
Develops/maintains components stack up.
Supports product validation activities (DVP&R), calculation and simulation.
Supports DFMEA activities.
Supports problems resolution activities.
Hold design review meetings with suppliers to clarify all technical aspects of purchased components and assemblies.
Hold design review meeting with ZFLS industrialization team to insure design manufacturability
(DFM activities).
Supports meetings with customers.
Supports continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts
Communicate with ZFLS core Engineering on product direction, design standards & customer requirements
Supports design proposals for new business opportunities outlining ZFLS design solutions to customer Requirements
Gains OEM approval of manufacturing deviations as requested by manufacturing facility
Complies with TS16949 and other industry policies and procedures
Leads engineering changes following ZFLS processes.
All Other Duties As Assigned
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or design engineering from a four-year college or university required. Two years or more of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications/Competency: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
