Job Description:
Welding a variety of parts using gas metal arc welding (MIG) equipment. Operator loads assemblies or components parts into fixtures and adjust welding machines to manually weld assemblies or component parts to produce quality parts. May be required to operate spot welder as assigned.
SPECIFIC & ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Properly complete daily labor reports, material move tickets and scrap tickets.
Follow routings and properly complete associated paperwork in accordance with set procedures.
Perform first piece inspect of welded manufactured parts to meet blue-print specifications and tolerances, and adjust setups accordingly to ensure a quality product is produced. Visually inspect all weld requirements for penetration and porosity.
Visually inspects work and fixtures on an on-going basis.
Perform to established methods and standards; meeting or exceeding the department's quality and productivity goals.
Working from blue prints, sets up and weld parts as called for by shop routings.
Retrieves fixtures for scheduled job.
Locate various assemblies or component parts into fixtures properly to produce quality parts.
Set and maintain proper welding temperatures, wire feeds and gas setting to produce quality welds.
Proper use of all safety equipment and safety features of machines.
Maintains proper maintenance on weld guns and wire feeders as needed.
Operates a wide variety of tools related to the welded process (i.e. sanders, grinder, buffers, etc.) as needed.
Responsible for planning work so as to eliminate lost time and errors.
Works with crew leader or more experienced welders during the training period.
Work with limited supervision.
Communicate well with others and work in a manner to support a team environment.
Perform company standard 5's program
Overtime may be frequent in this position.
Responsible for communicating to Supervisor and or crew leader all fixture and machine related issues (i.e. machine down or damage to equipment) and or part availability.
Perform other duties within the scope of job assignment as assigned by the Supervisor.
Perform duties in compliance with all safety rules and regulations required by the Company, Local, State, and Federal provisions.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMNT:
Must have a minimum of a High School Degree or GED
Welding certificate for a technology school preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
The employee must be able to perform basic mathematics, read and understand blue-prints, have the ability to follow charts and tables.
Must be able to interpret standard AWS.
Employee must have first-hand experience with the use of measuring tools.
Must have ability to use shop related tools and equipment.
Continuous standing, sitting, lifting, or bending.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs. and more with assistance.
Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a cooperative manner to support a team environment.
Knowledgeable of welding techniques and manufacturing processes through prior experience or training programs.
Must be able to read a tape measure and have a good understanding of fractions and numbers to three decimal places.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to obtain AWS/Jacobsen certification in the 3G weld positions.
TOOL/PPE REQUIREMENTS:
PPE supplied by company
Steel Toe Shoes required by employee
Employee will be subject to several levels of testing that will include a Welding Test, a Personality Profile, and a Hair Follicle Drug Screening.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
