JOB SUMMARY
Confirms patient insurance eligibility and/or benefits; obtains authorizations and/or referrals, collects co-payments, assists patients with government and charity programs, updates insurance information and resolves denied claims
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent with up to 12 months job-related course work

years' experience in healthcare registration as a Patient Access Financial Representative, insurance eligibility verification/authorization, billing/electronic claims submission or collection of accounts receivable (or equivalent combination of education and/or experience)
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of federal and state regulations and resources related to hospital billing standards and HIPAA
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Must demonstrate sensitivity to patients and families, socio-economic, cultural and special needs
Demonstrated prioritization, initiative and excellent attention to detail
Ability to analyze and problem solve
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team
Computer skills to include ability to quickly and accurately enter data and to navigate multiple software programs simultaneously
Working knowledge of database systems
Familiar with on-line eligibilities
Ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing needs
Ability to multiple task
Work requires ability to lift objects weighing 10 lbs or less

Medical terminology
Education in business, accounting or social services
