Summary:
This position provides expertise and leadership to the University in areas of: Facilitation in developing, nurturing, piloting and encouraging the use of instructional technology and instructional design strategies; Consultation on multiple course formats including online, blended, accelerated and flipped classrooms; Administration of the learning management system (D2L); Workshops and training materials to encourage and support the use of technology for academic and administrative missions.
This is a full time and year round position and will also lead efforts to establish and support a Faculty Resource Center (FRC). This position supports and encourages the effective use of technology in instruction and reports to the Manager of Support Services.
Duties/
Responsibilities:
25% Training
Provide training in the use of instructional technology such as: course management systems, web authoring tools, collaboration tools, media editing, smart boards and immediate response devices.
Survey and collaborate with the Colleges, divisions and departments to determine training needs.
Using various formats, develop various training materials and documentation in the use of instructional technology.
Develop and offer workshops on the effective use of instructional technology.
Research and champion emerging technologies.
Coordinate, conduct training and promote institutional software such as: SharePoint; Survey tools, D2L, E-portfolios, Bb Collaborate and Lynda.
60% Support and Development
Provide support and leadership in the use of technology to augment instruction and improve student learning / outcomes.
Assist faculty in the selection, development, and use of technology to enhance teaching and learning in traditional and distance learning environments.
Assist instructors in the design and development of online, blended and accelerated courses.
Promote the utility and pedagogical benefits of UWSP''s learning management system (Desire2Learn).
Encourage the creation of blended courses.
Lead efforts to establish and support a Faculty Resource Center (FRC).
Assist in the development of course objects including textual editing.
Support the use of web-based interactions and digitized video and/or audio.
Provide consultations to faculty on how to embed supporting technologies into D2L.
Develop, identify, and use technologies that promote accessibility (508 compliance).
Develop, identify, and use technologies that promote online assessment.
Administrator of and Desire2Learn systems.
10% Instructional Technology Collaboration & UW System Representation
Work proactively and collaboratively with other Instructional Technology staff to share materials, training and expertise.
Collaborate with other UW campus Desire2Learn Site Administrators to share D2L knowledge that can be passed on to faculty on each campus.
Learning Technology Development Council (LTDC) alternate.
Represent UWSP as requested.
Work collaboratively with other divisions and IT team members to foster instructional needs.
5% Professional Development
Attend workshops and seminars for professional development and training as departmental funding permits.
Read available trade journals related to computing to keep current in the field.
Identify professional development needs and propose solutions for meeting those needs.
Keep abreast with the trends of instructional technology and participate actively in educational technology communities on campus, in the University of Wisconsin System, and nationally.
Qualifications:
Bachelor''s degree in instructional design, educational technology required, or related fields or equivalent years of experience in faculty technology support.
Master''s degree preferred.
A strong educational technology background.
Knowledge of pedagogy and effective application of technology to teaching and learning.
Ability to transform educational needs analysis into effective teaching materials.
Macintosh and Microsoft Windows based computer skills and familiarity with productivity software products.
Web skills including proficiency in authoring software such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, and other web production tools
Experience in digitized audio and video technologies including video editing, CD, DVD, and streaming production.
Experience in integrated online course management systems (e.g., Desire2Learn, Blackboard, etc.)
Experience in the use of discussion forums, blogs, chats, and collaboration products.
Training and/or teaching experience in a higher education environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to translate complex technical information into usable, easy-to-follow instruction.
Good organizational skills, a higher degree of energy and initiative, adaptability, flexibility, ability to work with little direct supervision.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
