Responsible for supervising day to day operations of the Reno Laboratory
Primary Responsibilities
Ensure acceptable turn around time for the completion of work by the Laboratory Department.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the results produced through participation in audits of test procedures, quality meetings and follow-up on questionable data.
Ensure all departmental reviews are submitted on time following the schedule outlined by the Lab Manager to ensure sufficient time for management review. Help establish 6 month goals for all technicians and participate in the review of measured goal results.
Ensure employee's have the resources they need to complete their assignments. This includes equipment, training, systems access and an appropriate workspace.
Ensure staffing levels are appropriate and recommend action in a timely fashion when they are not.
Regularly assess the condition of equipment in the laboratory. Ensure the assets of the company are protected through proper use and maintenance. Provide suggestions for better maintenance practices and replacements when necessary.
Acknowledge all inventory received by the laboratory (directly or by trained designees) to ensure that supplies received are complete, in acceptable condition and meet the quality standards of the lab.
Communicate directly with vendors to obtain the support necessary for equipment and product issues.
Communicate with other shift supervisors at shift changes to transition the workload with little interruption in production.
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for adherence to corporate policies within the Laboratory Department, participates in the hiring of lab employees for their shift, and initiates and documents corrective actions of lab employees not performing adequately per employee handbook.
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for worksite safety. This includes ensuring adherence to all OSHA requirements and internal policies as well as identifying potentially hazardous conditions and addressing them promptly.
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for completing any assignments from the Lab Manager on schedule.
Conduct all safety and hazardous waste management activities in accordance with the ALS Tribology divisional Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E;) compliance policies and procedures, to include, but not limited to, the division's Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP), Hazardous Waste Management (HWM) Standard Safety Procedure (SSP), Contingency Plan, etc., and to fulfill the position responsibilities described therein.
Required Skills:
College Degree in Chemistry, Biology or similar major

Years related work experience as a laboratory technician with supervisory experience.
Must have good computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, LIMS, and Internet based reference libraries.
Knowledge of general lubrication principles and understanding of the fundamentals of mechanical equipment.
Industry related certifications such as STLE OMA, CLS or ICML MLT are a plus.
Good communication skills.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
