OSHA Attorney
Responsibilities: Provides professional legal advice, counsel, and guidance, as a practicing attorney at law, to assure that the Company, its assets and its activities are legally safeguarded, are in conformity with all the applicable laws and regulations and will not unduly expose the Company to litigation, penalties or claims. Advises management of the legal aspects of administrative and operational planning of the Company's activities. Plans and develops solutions to existing or potential legal problems involving the Company, and advises management concerning its legal rights and obligations. Advises the management of the Company as to the anticipated legal and other consequences of instituting, prosecuting and defending lawsuits, including arbitrations and administrative agency proceedings. Prepares and tries or supervises the preparation and trial of such lawsuits and proceedings which are instituted or defended by the Company. Coordinate and develop Company?s advocacy position on future legislative and regulatory matters and participate in various Industry Trade Organizations in support of the administrative rulemaking process. Develops form contracts and other legal documents, and approves the form of all significant contractual arrangements entered into by the company. Develops and implements programs, conducts presentations, publishes information and participates in other activities to educate Company officers and employees as to the company's Code of Business Conduct, Company policies and procedures and legal compliance requirements. Participates in continuing legal education programs and other activities as necessary to keep informed of developments in the law, new and proposed statutes and regulations, economic and social issues and other matters of interest to the company and the energy industry. Areas of practice will primarily include OSHA, Process Safety Management, Risk Management Program, and Crisis Response. Also entail contracts, negotiation, and legal research, advising clients and providing preventive law counseling. Entails heavy interaction with Industry Trade Organizations, Marathon Petroleum Company client organizations, governmental agencies and outside counsel.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
