This position is a part of the R&D SeaGel Technical Team for the Health & Nutrition. This position will lead and manage process improvement projects to meet business objectives which focus on the customer and drive continual improvement back into the pilot laboratory to improve its effectiveness and efficiency. Identification of baseline and target metrics is required in order to create the proper infrastructure for successful deployment and support of the improvement techniques.
Establish and maintain a detailed technical transfer package which would include for example; prescribing specific information about equipment standards, detailing formulation and ingredient specifications, defining critical process parameters, and listing other necessary standards to rapidly and effectively implement at commercial scale operations. Monitor and make improvements as necessary to increase effectiveness and shorten implementation time.
Continual focus on improving existing unit process information and of product performance is another expectation that is meant to increase effectiveness and efficiency. As new customers adopt the technology, additional challenges may be presented. It is expected that the holder of this position will continue to identify improvements to individual unit processes and/or to qualify new equipment through the execution of experimental studies which result in simplifying technology adoption by the customer.
Responsibilities:
Subject Matter Expert: Serves as primary resource and technical subject matter expert for both internal and external customers in areas of process development troubleshooting, problem solving, process/method improvement, and assuring the quality and compliance of these activities
Value Stream Process Mapping: Develop customer site assessment standards to capture critical activities required during assessment also formulate approach for country specific requirements. Develop equipment specifications, design/operational standards, and URS documents for SeaGel Process
Project Management: Lead and establish process objectives and the measurement of how effectively the processes fulfill those objectives. Undertake process design and project management as appropriate
Design of Experiments: Design and lead experiments from bench scale through plant trials to support new product and process development efforts. Collect and analyze data (customer satisfaction, characteristics and trends of processes including opportunities for preventive actions) to demonstrate the suitability and effectiveness of the management system. Seeks solutions for complex technical and/or customer adoption problems using prove tools such as statistical analysis, screening experiments, designs of experiments (DOE) etc
Problem Solving and Route Cause Analysis: Evaluate new technologies, or create new approaches, related to current or potential manufacturing processes, products and ventures using scientific principles, detailed experimentation, and economic and risk analyses
Safety: Contribute to increased safety of all personnel and aim for injury free environment

Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Engineering/Scientific discipline

plus years experience in a manufacturing environment driving process improvement or Kaizen related events and strategies
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing principle is preferred
Working knowledge of regulatory issues in the Food/Nutritional or Pharmaceutical industries is preferred
ASQ (or equivalent) or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt is highly desired. Previous experience with quality or ISO is also desired
Must have a successful track record of completed Green Belt projects and previous experience in a project leader role. Excellent statistical data skills in the area of Statistical Process Control, Pareto charts, Run charts, Scatter Diagrams, etc
Demonstrates ability to independently handle multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Must also have experience using Minitab or other similarly capable statistical software
Outstanding presentation skills (both written and oral) to communicate complex issues in a clear, concise manner to a variety of business and scientific audiences
Some travel will be required (Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
