THE POSITION
Executive Director, Cancer Services
The Cancer Center Director is responsible for Mercy Cancer Center's clinical, financial and service performance related to cancer services. This leader develops and implements business plans for growth of the services, building of physician and network relationships and referrals; achieving top patient satisfaction scores; attaining high quality outcomes; and providing patient centered care. The leader will coordinate services throughout the continuum of care and works as an integral and significant contributor to MercyMedicalCenter - North Iowa leadership.

Successful candidates will possess demonstrated leadership knowledge and track record in the following areas:
o Solid understanding of overall business process and operations, as well as knowledge of cost control principles and practices.
o Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and support oncology professionals to include mentoring, leadership development and alignment with program and hospital roles across the oncology care continuum.
o Demonstrated successful engagement, partnering and alliance building with a broad range of constituencies with a flexible but effective manner, excellent interpersonal, communications, and people skills.
o Has a strong knowledge of Radiation and Medical Oncology concepts.
o Proficiency in cultivating excellent physician and physician office relationships.
o Knowledge of cancer center accreditation and certification requirements & standards, plus regulatory requirements regarding clinical licensure.

The incumbent needs to be a credible leader in cancer center planning and business development with the ability to influence effectively in an acute care setting. The qualified candidate will have a Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, with a minimum of five years of relevant leadership experience including both Medical & Radiation Oncology experience. (Master's degree strongly preferred)

THE LOCATION

MASON CITY, IOWA
Mason City is located in North Central Iowa, in Cerro Gordo County, only a few miles from beautiful Clear Lake. It is approximately halfway between the capital cities of St Paul, Minnesota and Des Moines, Iowa. It is commonly referred to as the 'River City', as the city grew up centered on the Winnebago River. Mason City, above all else, is known for its outstanding musical heritage, consistently producing successful performers and educators. Mason City's favorite son Meredith Willson grew up in Mason City, having played in the Mason City Symphonic Band as a student at Mason City High School. Willson's crowning achievement was the famous musical The Music Man; many of the characters in it were taken from people Willson knew from his childhood in Mason City. Mason City is also home to Prairie School Architecture with several buildings in the community designed by Frank Lloyd Wright including the only remaining hotel in the world designed by Wright.
