services
team is responsible for architecting, building and operating an RDBMS platform as a service for various departments throughout the company and maintaining the common database technology environment in a constantly healthy state. This is an MS SQL Server DBA role, largely responsible for providing operational database services to the organization. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests within SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and contributing to continual service improvement by implementing high quality solutions to recurring problems. This MS SQL Server DBA role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - JOB DESCRIPTION
DUTIES:
Support and Manage a centralized MS SQLServer Platform
Own, track and resolve database related incidents and requests within SLAs.
Manage database Disaster Recovery (DR) using Database Mirroring and Always On technologies
Establish and maintain communication with technology customers
Review and fix issues with database backups, maintenance, monitoring etc.
Manage database security
Maintain DBA Runbooks / Wiki and liaise with outsourced support teams
Work with the database engineering to design and implement service improvements.
Initiate and perform changes on production systems following change management policies
Standards and policy enforcement

REQUIREMENTS:
Requires Bachelor's degree in
computer
Science, Software / Information Science, Computer Engineering or a related field of study and 5 years experience as an MS SQL Server Database Administrator.

Required
Experience:
Administration of MS SQL Server 2008-2012 in a shared, virtualized Platform environment
High Availability and recoverability of databases in 24/7 environment by using clustering, replication, mirroring, log shipping, backup and restore to meet RTO/RPO objectives
Management of large database systems (multiples of hundreds of GBs in size).
Migration / upgrade of database systems and platforms from SQL 2008 to SQL 2012 (and SQL 2005 to SQL 2008)
Troubleshooting application performance problems (Indexing, Optimizer, server configuration, Profiler, DMV etc)
Setup and troubleshooting of replicated environments
TSQL programming and debugging skills
Knowledge of Incident / Problem / Change / Release Management procedures

Must be willing to join on call rotation and provide off-hours support.

Desired experience
Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
Migration of SQL2008 databases to SQL2012 Always on architecture
Enterprise monitoring tools, including Idera, Quest, and Sitescope.
Migration of database services to Cloud (e.g, Amazon, Azure, Rackspace
Experience of Reporting, Analysis and Integration Services (SSRS/SSIS/SSAS)
