Responsibilities
The Instrument Technician must have the ability to install, startup, maintain, troubleshoot and
repair
complex automated process controls, equipment, instruments and control systems used in laboratories, plant growth facilities, and pilot plants in collaboration with the end-user. All work must be performed in accordance with the ISA Standards, National Electrical Codes, Mechanical Codes and all other applicable codes, standards and government regulations. Required to enter time
Qualifications
Proficient troubleshooting and repair skills on scientific research equipment, instruments, automated processes, and reactor control systems.
Skilled at automated control panel fabrication and component installation.
Skilled in wiring electronic components in process control systems and enclosures.
ISA (International Society of Automation) CCST Level 2 Certification. (Certified Controls System Technician)- Or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Associates Degree in Industrial Process Controls Technology , Similar or related experience
Capable of taking direction from a Monsanto TDC Management, Instrument/Metrology Specialists, Scheduler/Planner, Technical Leads, Project Managers, and Engineers.
Evaluation of work order request, basic design, develop layout plans, fabrication, installation, testing, troubleshooting and repairs of wiring systems, pressure loops, process controls, and equipment.
Understand written and verbal instruction with a basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
Prepare basic process flow and piping drawings to indicate process sequencing and operations when necessary.
Knowledgeable and proficient in the proper use of power equipment, process testing devices, and hand tools needed to safely perform assigned task.
Ability to perform Preventative maintenance procedures on laboratory and specialized equipment, and electrical controls and systems
Ability to install, startup, maintains, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical/process equipment and systems used in laboratories and pilot plants.
Knowledge of electrical parts, process parts and equipment and ability to communicate and purchase required stock from vendors using the SAP purchasing system.
Assists in the design process of various projects and equipment.
Assembles tests and debugs projects and equipment.
Maintains, modifies, improves, repair projects, and equipment as required.
Assists in process development and qualification related to new equipment.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated technically specific
computer
skills, Visio, CAD, SAP, as well as Microsoft business software.
Ability to work well as a team member with other skilled crafts, researchers and engineers.
Ability to lift 50lbs. Dedication to quality work, quick turn around and the ability to think creatively and still meet timelines.
