Position Summary

Converts diagnoses and procedures for hospital inpatient and outpatient
services
, psychiatric inpatient and outpatient services, and inpatient rehab facility services into numerical codes utilizing ICD9CM and CPT coding systems. Makes DRG assignments to inpatient accounts and APC assignments to outpatient accounts. Initiates chart assembly and chart analysis process. Works with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to obtain appropriate documentation for the coding of the patient's medical record.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION

Education is preferred to include specialized health care subjects, i.e., medical science, pathophysiology, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, ICD9CM coding, CPT/HCPCS coding.

EXPERIENCE

For inpatient coding, minimum of 3 years ICD9CM coding experience in hospital setting. For outpatient coding, minimum of 3 years CPT & 3 years ICD9CM coding experience in a physician multi-specialty setting or hospital setting. Minimum of two years experience working with computers, preferably coding encoder software/abstracting software.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Inpatient Coders -RHIA, RHIT, CCS preferred or CPC-H. Outpatient Coders - RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC-H preferred or CPC.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
