Job Description
Senior Solutions Engineers are members of the Global Solutions staff that work with a cross functional team to design, architect and build repeatable solutions for the field sales organization, partners and customers. In addition, the Senior Solutions Engineer designs and performs pre-sales proof-of-concept tests, customer seminars, and product and solution demonstrations. Duties include:
Solutions engineer focused on testing/documenting PaaS components.
Considered an SME in one or more technology areas in order to contribute towards the delivery of the end-to-end aspects of a solution infrastructure, including both core EMC technologies and also partner technologies such as VMWare, should have a developer background that encompasses the major technical skills outlined.
Provide leadership for technical solutions, white papers, presentations, demonstrations, trade show participation, field sales and customer consulting, and customer briefing workshops. Provide leadership for internal beta tests for all new products in conjunction with Engineering
Translate, transfer and disseminate acquired EMC products and technologies knowledge to both internal and external customers. Conduct product and solution demonstrations at the Solutions Center. Acquire, develop, execute and document solution information comparing EMC solutions to the industry.
Influence development efforts/scope with technical documentation and training materials. Provide technical consulting and installation advice with on-site customer presentations supporting solution roll-out, ensuring solution specifications are met. Advise on future solution enhancements. Develop, build and document solutions, within the structure of the Global Solutions Group, for the market place which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
The technologies include partner technologies, both hardware and software, to integrate and qualify as part of the Solutions Lifecycle. Create, publish and maintain technical documentation for the reference library. Communicates progress toward project/program goals. Architect, build and lead proof-of-concept tests to help the successful conclusion of sales.
Work with TSG personnel, partners and customers to demonstrate EMC product and solutions superiority. Identify field-developed solutions for inclusion into the registered solutions library. Provide technical management for solutions beta tests, develop test plans, participate in beta testing, and perform site management. Able to handle multiple projects of moderate complexity simultaneously. Shows initiative and may lead projects.
Requested
4 or more years of software development experience
1 to 2
years of experience as a software developer preferably in a Cloud/Service Provider environment
Experience with CloudFoundry, Hadoop or OpenStack
Java development covering front end, back end and middleware components gained over a number of years
Scripting using vbScript, JavaScript, Powershell or BASH
Experience in developing with the Spring framework - with frameworks ex: Spring framework
Good working experience with RESTful, SOAP web
services
Knowledge of VMWare or other virtualization technologies
Knowledge of web technologies such as IIS, Apache, HTML, XML, JSON
Knowledge of databases, SQL queries and be able to use those in coding
Technical Bachelors degree
