Description
SUMMARY
Receives, stores, and distributes merchandise and cylinders within establishment and onto distribution trucks by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assembles customer orders from stock and places cylinders or equipment on trucks when customers arrive at location.

Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine what cylinders or equipment need to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

Conveys cylinders or equipment from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.

Sorts and places cylinders according to predetermined sequence such as size, type of gas, or color.

Loads and unloads cylinder trailers.

Assists with semi-annual inventories.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
One to three months related experience and/or training; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using for counting and weight measurement.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when moving cylinders; and taste or smell to recognize any leaking cylinders or faulty equipment.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (e.g. small welders and cylinders) and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (e.g. larger equipment or cylinders).
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to recognize the different cylinders and equipment.
