Summary: Under minimal supervision. Plans develops, implements and evaluates effective communications including content determination, creative direction, research , writing, editing and validation. Leads strategic communications projects. Provides direct support to executives. Position Information: The Regulatory and Public Affairs Communications Advisor for Government Affairs will build awareness of the FedEx brand, improve
executive
communications and enhance the corporation's overall presence in
washington
, D.C., and other significant government locations. Responsibilities include : Broaden awareness of the enterprise's government and public affairs programs and priorities among customers, employees and executives, industry players, and national and international media. Integrate
public relations
considerations into government affairs operations. Use public relations and communications to support strategic partnership and industry initiatives. Ensure that all areas of the operation support a consistent corporate identity and clearly communicate messaging and position to the internal organization. Innovate continuously, creating and sustaining processes for quick response to issues concerning FedEx. Act as a liaison between government affairs and corporate communications. Anticipate and resolve issues with speed and sensitivity - convey important announcements and represent the team on Sprint calls. Coordinate with government affairs and prepare appropriate responses, including drafting statements, speeches, briefing materials and talking points and make sure that they reach the target audience. Prepare handouts and multimedia programs that serve to reach the company's policies to the public. Responsible for maintaining government affairs / public affairs content on the policy perspective webpage within about.fedex.com. Handle media inquiries related to government affairs activities; cultivate and maintain strong media relationships.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree/equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Five (5) years of directly related experience required. Demonstrated experience in institutional or corporate communications with an emphasis on communication planning/analysis and exposure to print and non-print media strategies. Ability to study complex data and broad business strategy and convert into practical, creative and effective communications strategies. Proficient analytical, problem-solving, organization, creativity, grammar and writing skills. Strong demonstrated human relations/relationship management skills.
