POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Operations team, providing diversified project support and leadership in the areas of planning and inventory control, supplier qualification, manufacturing methods development, operations initiatives, and manufacturing/ assembly oversight assistance.
The applicant will be an experienced, energetic, results-oriented professional accustomed to multi-tasking within an engineered products/ metals-fabrication environment.
The candidate will possess demonstrated abilities to work collaboratively and lead the decision-making process within cross functional teams while effectively managing multiple projects/ activities.
He/ she will possess the communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization while applying engineering principles and techniques to propose, direct, and integrate solutions to complex technical problems.
The candidate must have the desire and attributes to facilitate eventual advancement towards a manufacturing management role.
The Manufacturing Engineer position will report to the Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Generates manufactured product shop floor documentation packages, including detailed sequenced work center processing plans, following review of released engineering drawings and bills of material.
Lead Lean and 5S activities in order to improve product work flow, scheduling visibility, and plant organization.
Design and develop tooling and maintain the fixture inventory control system.
Create, review, and improve manufacturing processes to meet hardware end-item specifications.
Review engineering drawings and designs for cost effective manufacturability.
Support vendor selection process and act as technical interface to increase machine shop and secondary processing outsource capability.
Communicate manufacturing plans and processes to internal and external customers.
Work with the project team to ensure overall program quality, delivery and cost objectives are met.
Perform as back-up to Manufacturing Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other applicable major.
A minimum of ten years experience in a complex metal manufacturing environment.
A minimum of three years supervisory experience.
A minimum of three years experience with recognized quality systems (ISO, AS, QS, TS)
Working knowledge ofmetal machining, welding, and non-destructive testing processes, and familiarity with casting, plating, coating, and finishing processes.
Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning software (Vantage preferred).
Excellent knowledge of ANSI Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Self-motivated,with a reputation for timely problem solving and decision-making.
Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced company culture.
Ability to work as part of a team with proven leadership ability from past experiences.
Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Communicates effectively in a variety of settings.
Creative and innovative. Constant learner.
Ability to obtain US government security clearance.
