job
The MS SQL Database Administrator creates, modifies, maintains and documents data storage needs of the company and codes, tests, implements and maintains physical databases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, capacity, and maintenance of MSSQL databases.
Assist I.T. staff with database administration.
Assure integrity of data by developing scanning programs to verify data validity.
Develop and maintain business continuance strategy of databases; options to consider are clustering, mirroring, replication, tape backup, etc.
To stay on the leading edge with new technologies made available by upgrades to SQL server; bring new ideas to the company based on these new opportunities.
Manage capacity planning of the SQL databases to include upgrades to new versions of SQL and/or new hardware requirements.
Responsible for the optimization of all SQL servers via performance tuning.
Assist in the planning and implementation of different methods to make data available to the end user.
Analyze, develop, code, test and maintain MSSQL Server stored procedures and views.
Assist programmers in resolving application specific questions on the MSSQL Server.
Analyze current database design and offer suggestions for necessary changes due to new projects.
Provide support in all above mentioned duties for company and/or jointly owned offices located world wide.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Post secondary degree in
computer
Science or equivalent experience in computer technology and/or computer programming.
MCITP Database Administrator 2008 Certified with experience in Analysis
services
, MS Reporting Services, Window 2003/2008/2012 Server.
Three years plus experience of system lifecycle development and system analysts and design.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft BI tools including SSIS, SSAS and SSRS.
Experience in interacting with .Net based Web technologies.
Highly proficient in performance tuning MSSQL and TSQL.
3-5 years of experience in database design and administration on MSSQL. This includes experience in installation, replication, stored procedures and design.
A demonstrated track record of strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Typing skills of 30 words per minute.
Familiarity with general computer terminology and procedures.
Strong project management abilities.
Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Working knowledge of .net, XML and visual basic preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
