Excellent 6 month contract opportunity near the airport with a prestigious
oregon
public agency, the Port of Portland. First class work environment in an upscale facility.
o Perform day-to-day Telecom Technician duties in support of the Port's voice and data networks (copper and fiber);
o Respond to, troubleshoot and
repair
or replace defective electronic and/or mechanical telecommunications equipment;
o Maintain wiring and asset documentation (matrices, drawings);
o Place, integrate, and document circuit orders;
o Coordinate work with diverse work groups and customers;
o Perform basic phone switch operations;
o Perform basic Cisco Ethernet (L2) switch functions (VLAN assignments, port enabling, etc.);
o Direct the work of service vendors;
o Develop a working knowledge of Port business functions.
o Work independently, multi-task and self-prioritize.
o Work with frequent interruptions and short deadlines;
o Work closely with Communications Infrastructure
manager
and effectively with staff at all levels;
o Field work that requires travel between multiple Port of Portland sites and Airport facilities.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
o Associate degree in
computer
networking or telecommunications, or equivalent course work, professional certification, and/or experience;
o 5 to 8 years of technical work experience in a voice/data environment;
o State of Oregon Limited Energy Electrical License (A or B);
o TE Connectivity (ADC Krone), Siemon, and/or Corning certifications preferred;
o Additional network or telephone certifications preferred;
o Experience with outside plant.
Skills and Abilities
o Detailed knowledge of voice circuits and troubleshooting (analog, digital, VoIP);
o Detailed knowledge of LAN network wiring and troubleshooting;
o Working knowledge of wiring standards including Ethernet, TIA/EIA, NEC, etc.;
o Working knowledge with copper/fiber cable test equipment (i.e. Fluke, DynaTel, TDR/OTDR's);
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel;
o Experience with Avaya and VoIP phone infrastructure preferred;
o Experience with Cisco Ethernet switches preferred;
o Knowledge of CCTV, paging systems, and video distribution systems preferred;
o Experience with Microsoft Visio and/or AutoDesk AutoCAD is preferred;
o Read and interpret engineering plans and wiring schematics.
Physical and Security Requirements
o Valid Oregon or
washington
State driver's license;
o Ability to lift tools and equipment (up to 50lbs);
o Ability to obtain Airport Security Badge (requires FBI criminal history check);
o Ability to obtain Port Marine Security Badge and Transportation Workers' Identification Card (TWIC).Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
