U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is the principal investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the second largest investigative agency in the federal government. Created in 2003 through a merger of the investigative and interior enforcement elements of the U.S. Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service, ICE now has more than 20,000 employees in offices in all 50 states and 47 foreign countries.
ICE's primary mission is to promote homeland security and public safety through the criminal and civil enforcement of federal laws governing border control, customs, trade, and immigration. The agency has an annual budget of more than $5.7 billion dollars, primarily devoted to its two principal operating components - Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
The Technology Consultant (Analyst) will provide standard work day support to ICE's Intel unit.
Role and Responsibilities
The Technology Consultant (Analyst) will be responsible for supporting the Geospatial Information System Desk (GIS Desk) within ICE's classified environment. Additionally, the Technology Consultant (Analyst) may be called to work on the top secret side in support of particular
events
and thus must hold an Active Top Secret clearance. The Technology Consultant (Analyst) will respond for creating new products, which will be generated for dissemination with other tracked information regarding a particular ICE event and the Department's response posture.
The Technology Consultant (Analyst), by virtue of the position, may be required to provide surge support during critical incidents affecting the nation's security of safety.
Specific duties and skills associated with the Technology Consultant (Analyst) include:
Administer HSIN
community
of Interest (SharePoint 2010) for ICE
Build custom SharePoint Web parts
Understanding of visualization tools such as ESRI-based web interfaces, Google Earth and SharePoint Mapping Web Part (Esri)
Ability to work autonomously
Understanding of data in SharePoint (Lists, location
services
, content management)
Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
Strong commitment to the Homeland Security mission.
Experience with exercise planning is a plus in order to support ICE exercises
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in
computer
science or related field
3-5 years' experience
Active Top Secret
DHS Experience a plus
Experience with Emergency Management
Experience with SharePoint 2010Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
