Director of Outdoor Retail

General Summary of Position
This position is primarily responsible for selling Goal Zero products in outdoor retail, retail account development, and managing a team of account managers who sell Goal Zero products to national retail accounts and some regional key accounts in the outdoor channel.
Duties & Responsibilities
Significant travel throughout the United States to call on existing and prospective customers to solicit orders, discuss merchandising strategies, and execute programs to enhance sell through performance at retail.
Communicating programs and expectations to and managing the results of account managers who sell to outdoor retailers.
Implement sales by authorizing and negotiating contracts and securing strong placement.
Displays or demonstrates product, using samples, Power Point presentations, catalogs, and emphasizes salable features.
Manages the effective use of co-op advertising funds with key accounts and leverages these funds for additional product placement and key placement in customer ads (tabloids, mailers, email blasts, etc.).
Responsible for contract negotiations with retail partners to enhance sell-in and sell-through results.
Serves as liaison between retail partners and internal stakeholder groups including:
marketing, finance, sales, operations, and executive leadership teams.
Responsible for providing forecasts and must have ability to explain lead times due to international sourcing and logistic environments.
Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
Maintains responsibility for overseeing P&L for accounts managed personally and by the outdoor retail team.
Works with account managers as needed to offer advice and assistance for retailer opportunities within the channels managed.
Tracks stock levels at national accounts and actively recommends advice to retailers to maximize sales performance.
Coordinates customer training programs via the use of national field sales training force, and e-learning web portals such as 3point5.
Builds and nurtures productive business relationships.
Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts, including key leadership at each prospective and existing account.
Investigates and resolves customer problems and concerns.
Attends trade shows and works with marketing team to ensure phenomenal execution.
Acts as a brand ambassador to each of our retail accounts by building top of mind consumer awareness for our brands at each prospective retailer.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Account Management Experience - Candidate must have demonstrate a track record showing experience effectively managing and growing large national retail accounts. Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years of experience managing large retail accounts for a consumer products company. Sales experience for an outdoor product company is a plus.
Cross-Functional Team Leadership - Candidate will be influencing the efforts of multiple cross-functional team members and will be able to navigate these dynamics to get desired results.
Leadership - Qualified candidate will demonstrate leadership skills that can be leveraged to fulfill team management roles and responsibilities. 5 years
of experience in a management role is required.
Technical Skills - Candidate will have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience Requirements

At least 3 years of national or regional retail account sales experience required
At least 5 years of experience managing people
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Consistency in account growth
Four year college degree or equivalent
