12M Firefighter

Company Name:
National Guard
### Job Description
As you might imagine, Army National Guard Firefighters perform the same basic duties as their civilian counterparts. Army bases have their own fire protection services responsible for protecting lives and property by controlling and helping prevent fires in buildings, on aircraft, and aboard ships.
Through training and practice you will develop the skills and experience necessary to perform firefighting and rescue operations, operate firefighting equipment and vehicles, administer first aid, and respond to hazardous material emergencies. This includes the operation of pumps, hoses, and extinguishers; entering vehicles and buildings to fight fires and rescue personnel; driving fire and emergency rescue vehicles; and caring for injured personnel. You will also perform fire hazard inspections; teach fire protection procedures; and maintain firefighting equipment.
Plus, your training and certifications may qualify you for a position on a civilian firefighting crew or as a volunteer firefighter in your community. Additional certifications or licenses may enable you to work as a fire inspector, fire investigator, or fire safety specialist.
Earn while you learn
Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to train. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.
Job training for Firefighters consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training consists of time in the classroom and work in the field.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.
