The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is currently seeking to fill a full-time vacancy for aProgram Assistant-ConfidentialinEquity/Diversity Serviceswithin General Education Administration.

Job Duties: Under the general supervision of the Director of Equity/Diversity Services, the Program Assistant-Confidential provides clerical and administrative support for the office and professional staff members. Specific responsibilities include preparing confidential correspondence, forms, and other documents; ordering and verifying the receipt of supplies, equipment, and services; ensuring that limited-term and student employees are properly trained; assisting with the editing, organizing, and distributing of the UWM Affirmative Action Plan and OFCCP (Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs) reports; completing data collection and analysis for use in complaint investigations and data requests; and recording encumbrances and expenditures charged against the office budget. In addition, the Program Assistant-Confidential is responsible for assisting with assembly of divisional Diversity Assessment Reports; assisting with the development of database programs for tracking and reporting purposes; monitoring the receipt of information and items with requested deadlines; serving as an IT liaison by coordinating technical support needs with various departments; coordinating travel arrangements; greeting visitors and screening telephone calls; maintaining files and office records; maintaining an appointment calendar for the Director; and assembling materials for workshops and meetings.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Highly qualified candidates will possess knowledge of general office procedures; skills in telephone etiquette; knowledge of and experience with email, voicemail, and the internet; and knowledge of and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). In addition, the incumbent of this position must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work in a diversified workforce; and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
