U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is an agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) comprised of approximately 19,000 Federal employees. We lawfully administer immigration and naturalization adjudication functions and establish immigration services policies and priorities.Functions include adjudication of:
Immigrant and nonimmigrant visa petitions Citizenship applications and naturalization petitions Asylum and refugee applications A variety of other immigration applications and petitions The Field Operations Directorate provides management and oversight to the diverse operations of the National Benefits Center, and the domestic regional, district, field, and field support offices; adjudicates applications and petitions for immigration benefits; interviews applicants for immigration benefits; conducts naturalization ceremonies nationwide; completes required security and background security checks for pending applications and petitions; and provides immigration information and outreach.The District Director oversees and manages the day-to-day operations, efficient adjudication of all applications and petitions for immigration benefits, and administrative investigations within their designated geographic area. The incumbent independently manages all service related program activities and operations for the USCIS District Office and multiple Field Offices within jurisdictions that encompass large metropolitan areas (such as Miami, New York City, Los Angeles); and/or are spread across large geographically dispersed areas crossing multiple states.The District Director has authority and responsibility over the designated areas to ensure proper management and administration of immigration benefits program and services, and is responsible for leading, developing, analyzing, monitoring and evaluating all program activities and for implementing any changes that are the result of changes in policy, legislation, regulation, executive action, instruction, etc., and impact the mission activities of the directorate, USCIS and its stakeholders. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
