Incumbent is responsible for ensuring all veterans eligible for enrollment in the database are properly enrolled through the Health Eligibility Center and all registrations are complete with no missing data (inconsistencies). This information serves as a base for determining entitlement to medical care as well as bill preparation and collections on all billable episodes of inpatient and out patient care. Accurate and complete data collection is essential to proper processing of third party collection requirements as mandated by law. Incumbent is responsible for the determination and timely verification of eligibility for all applicants for care. This will include access and input from various sources to make such a determination (i.e., review of military documents, Hospital Inquiry System (HINQ), Veterans Information Solution (VIS), Patient Data Exchange System (PDX), telephonic verification with VARO staff, Health Eligibility Center (HEC), or Records Processing Center in St. Louis, etc.). The process of verifying eligibility is complicated and criteria differs for each type of benefit applied for. Maintains a suspense file on all eligibility cases, which will require continual follow-up pending a decision through Regional Office or other sources until a determination is reached. Composes correspondence relative to the patient's application for care including letters advising veterans of their status (eligible or ineligible). provides guidance and advice to veterans on medical benefits and information on a wide variety of VA programs available to the patient. This requires extensive and in-depth knowledge of VA regulations and rules guiding such procedures. Interviews and inputs application information into the VISTA system and obtains all information required for patient processing (10-lOEZ, 10-lOEZR, means test information, private insurance information, etc.). Must also process the 10-lOEZ online applications. The incumbent is expected to provide exceptional customer service by exceeding the customer's expectations. The incumbent will actively listen to customers with respect and concern; the incumbent will pay attention to the details of the customer's needs and help the customer arrive at a satisfactory solution to the problem. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
