The Nuclear Engineering Division, with a budget of $100+MM and 300 employees, advances the design and operation of safe and efficient nuclear energy systems and applies its expertise in nuclear science and technology to current and emerging programs of national and international significance. Our expertise spans conventional and advanced nuclear reactor design, fuel cycle technologies, safety analyses, materials behavior, detection and diagnostic systems, and modeling and simulation. We also have major roles in nonproliferation and national security programs. Division facilities include radiological and engineering development laboratories. Our key sponsors include the U.S. Department of Energy - Nuclear Engineering and National Nuclear Security Administration -, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, other Federal agencies, and the private sector.
In this role as a Designer, you will support the Engineering Operations Section under the direction of engineers and/or scientists and Group Leader.
In this position, you will:
Use CAD solid modeling techniques to develop conceptual design packages to fulfill established design requirements
Transform conceptual designs into detailed designs
Develop complex assembly models
Design layout drawings utilizing symbol usage, tolerance determination, methods of fabrication, and complex assembly drawings
Calculate geometric dimensioning and tolerance
Cost estimates for fabrication drawings
Work with limited supervision
Potentially lead the work of other design and drafting personnel
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Position Requirements
To be considered you must have:
An Associate's Degree, preferably related to designing/drafting, and 10
years of experience or equivalent
Proficient in the use of Inventor or similar 3D modeling software
Ability to use the current operating system to its full advantage, such as but not limited to, directory structure for filing and saving of engineering drawings, using electronic mail to send and receive information, usage of various software such as adobe, vault
Ability to create error free engineering drawings that meet all the standards and practices, as outlined in Drafting Practices and Standard Procedures as well as in accordance with current drafting practices which reference ANSI Y14.5 or appropriate industry standards
Knowledge and practical use of beneficial specific engineering and manufacturing
Ability to perform basic calculations necessary to assess the design is preferred
Time management skills to meet schedules and deadlines
Exchanges verbal and written ideas clearly and effectively

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
