Stanford University isactively seeking a full-time Life Sciences Research Assistant within Stanford'sMass Spectrometry lab. This position is expected to last approximately sixmonths starting immediately. As a Stanford temporary employee, the individualhired into this role is not eligible for most Stanford benefits.
Stanford University MassSpectrometry is a shared core resource facility operating under the Dean ofResearch, and serves the scientific research community at Stanford andbeyond. Beyond making available state-of-the-art, user-friendlyfacilities and services, the laboratory enables education, methods development,and new applications development designed to meet the rapidly evolving needs ofresearchers. Due to the essential information that mass spectrometry providesto researchers in the fields of life sciences, medicine, and engineering, the laboratoryserves as an intellectual watering hole at the crossroads of diversedisciplines.

A summary ofresponsibilities of this position are:
Prepare samples for researchers and clients throughout Stanford and the world
Manage sample submissions through iLab and liaise with clients on the progress of their samples
Prepare and perform labexperiments in support of research projects based on knowledge of scientifictheory.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or a combination ofeducation and experience.
Knowledge, Skills andAbilities:
General understanding of scientific principles.
General computer skills and ability to quicklylearn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications.
Ability to work under deadlines with generalguidance.
Excellent organizational skills and demonstratedability to accurately complete detailed work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop,squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-basedcomputer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objectsweighing over 40 pounds.
Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and workabove, sort and file paperwork or parts.
Rarely climb, scrub, sweep, mop, chop and mix oroperate hand foot controls.
Must have correctible vision to perform dutiesof the job.
Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reachabove shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours.
Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50pounds.
Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorousenvironment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
