Location: Sandpoint, ID. preferred. Also considering candidates in Tigard OR, and Salt Lake City, UT.
Responsibilities
The position consists of power modeling, data analysis and input, conducting industry research and gaining market expertise. The position is responsible for taking ownership of data for use in the AURORAxmp Electric Market Model by energy providers, power marketers, energy consultants, utilities, and government regulators.
Qualifications
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree: Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, Applied Math, Physics, or related field
Expertise in working with Excel functions and capabilities
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to research and learn new techniques
Ability to articulate the business problem to be analyzed, quickly identify the critical elements of the problem, achieve a high quality answer in a timely fashion, and synthesize answers to resonate with decision makers
Excellent communication skills, including strong verbal, presentation, and technical writing abilities
Team player, with the ability to be a self-starter and work independently as needed
Preferred
Qualifications:
Demonstrated working knowledge of power plant operations, electricity and fuel markets, and unit generation
Knowledge of the European power markets and their intricacies, data sources, and structure
Demonstrated capability of effectively communicating complex ideas and analysis verbally, in document format (Word), and in presentation format (Power Point).
Working knowledge of Visual Basic or comparable Excel macro programming techniques
Experience with EIA, FERC, ENTSOE, or other power industry data sets
Working Knowledge of SQL queries and SQL database formats
Knowledge of fundamental energy market analysis, Capacity markets, Environmental markets, Demand side management/energy efficiency, Electric utility resource planning approaches
Experience with power market production cost models
Degree or certificate specializing in Power MarketsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
