Job Title:
Regional Engineer
CenturyLink is looking for five candidates, two electrical and three mechanical, to join the Regional Engineering Team inside Central Engineering to support of our Global portfolio of Data Centers .
In addition to specialized knowledge as a degreed Engineer, the successful candidate will have a working knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems, and will be expected to remain current in industry knowledge and best practices through participation in engineering, codes and standards bodies such as NFPA, ASHRAE, IEEE, OSHA, NEC, NETA, including industry best practices and networking organizations such as Battcon, AFCOM, Green Grid, Uptime Institute, Data Center Dynamics, and 7X24 Exchange.
Responsibilities
  • Cradle to grave Project life cycle support for technical issues to ensure technical needs are met.
  • Technical oversight of outside consultants for compliance to CenturyLink standards.
  • Provide assistance with design, business case creation, and project planning / implementation.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys and develop recommendations and specifications to improve, repair or modify physical plants and building systems toward the highest operational integrity and energy efficiency.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations regarding site effectiveness.
  • Provide 24x7 technical support and subject matter expertise for the Data Center teams.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support for sales and systems engineering teams as appropriate.
  • Works with Facilities Managers to implement all standard operating procedures and practices,
  • Participate in change management process, including review / approval of SOPs / MOPs.
  • Support commissioning of new construction, expansion, and modifications at the site level.
  • 25-35% Travel required.
Position Objectives
  • Ensure operational efficiencies and best practices toward maintaining availability/uptime of all 24X7 facilities mission critical operations and infrastructure.
  • Provide expertise & guidance to Facilities Management related to energy efficiency.
  • Drive technical excellence, consistency and process maturity across all Data Center operations.
  • Share technical knowledge and operational experience with team members to enhance professional growth and effective cross training of the Data Center personnel.
Required skills
  • Ten (10) years experience supporting mission critical environment.
  • Experience as a design engineer in a consulting engineering firm a strong plus.
  • Experience in writing Requests For Proposal (RFPs) and evaluating contractor proposals.
  • Understands different project delivery conventions including:
    roles / responsibilities, design, construction, start up, commissioning and turn-over through operations.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects.
  • Knowledgeable in conventional design, leading edge technologies, and best practices employed in mission critical facilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex system faults to identify a root cause and develop solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ability to effectively translate highly technical systems and concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills; experience in technical writing and customer-facing presentations.
  • Excellent computer skills required with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
Required Electrical skills (electrical position only)
  • Strong background of electrical distribution, UPS and control concepts; competent in performing electrical load calculations and in the use of analyzing meters and tools associated with systems diagnostic tactics.
  • In depth understanding of all VRLA and Wet Cell battery technologies, battery theory, and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to develop and analyze short circuit, arc flash, and protection device coordination analyses.
  • General knowledge of mechanical systems.
Required Mechanical skills (mechanical position only)
  • Experience with CFD simulation programs such as TileFlow.
  • Understanding of all HVAC systems operations, and control systems; competent in performing heat load and air balancing calculations.
  • Experience in writing Sequence of Operations, and debugging systems.
  • General knowledge of electrical systems.
Desired skills
  • Plant operations or startup / commissioning experience in critical facilities.
  • Experience in engineering economics, or working with business analysts in providing value-based solutions.
  • Proficient in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering,
    • or Military training with Certifications.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
