POSITION
Summary:
Program, set up and machine quality precision parts per specification, using CNC Swiss machines while working under minimal supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of position):
Set-up, adjust and write programs for CNC Swiss (7 Axis) and Mutli Axis Lathes Machines.
Creating a setup sheet, tool list, and picture library of the machined part for all employees to access and use for future operations.
Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Make recommendation for trying new tooling, adjust tools and replace as needed.
Must read and understand layouts, job packets and blue prints for parts being run (including geometric tolerance). This includes understanding of dimensions and tolerances of finished parts.
Follow set-up procedures as well as recommend improvements.
Provide peer training, coaching and assistance to other operators.
Implement change requests from customers
Assist in the quotation process as required. Define process and estimate cycle times, define quality requirements, and identify technical issues and concerns
Provide training to other machinist on specific jobs and on a general basis
Serve as a technical resource for other employees: Train the machinist to run specific jobs;
provide training on inspection criteria and techniques; provide generic training to machinist
Maintains a safe and clean work area
Regular attendance required
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND
Qualifications:
2-4 yrs. machine technology degree or equivalent work experience
4-8 yrs. of direct swiss machining work experience
Effective communication both verbal and written
Interest in learning and continued professional growth
Develop rapport with employees
Skilled in computers, CAD/CAM and CNC manual swiss programming
Understand tooling requirements to set-up and operate machines in the department, including select and align tooling, fixtures and attachments for machining.
Touch off tools and make offsets.Ability to troubleshoot effectively and efficiently with little (if any) guidance from lead to avoid downtime of machines.
Ability to perform a sequence of operations without supervision and consistently maintain the performance levels set for quality and quantity.
Hands on experience in programming & setup of CNC swiss machines
Geometric tolerance and ability to interpret drawings
Skilled in computer programs such as excel and word
Willing to travel for training
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
