The Senior Design Engineer is a key position on a product family team, developing electronic audio and control products for the Music Gear Group, from definition through to manufacturing, with some guidance from a lead engineer or engineering manager. This role focuses on digital mixing system products and it requires design of embedded digital board systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement and verify high-speed (>100MHz) embedded digital hardware, including mixed signal hardware (analog/digital converters, etc.), embedded microprocessors, digital interfaces, DC/DC converters, user interface (screens, sliders, LEDs, buttons), USB 2.0, 1000Mb Ethernet.
Design to meet sub-system and overall product requirements.
Design for, and resolve issues arising with, thermal, EMC and agency requirements.
Document designs, and verification methods and results.
Perform feasibility and cost studies, project planning, verification plans, design specifications and design reviews.
Assist with product definition, manufacturing introduction support, validation testing, and ongoing sustaining engineering.
Mentor junior engineers and perform peer review of designs and procedures.
Design, write and debug firmware for embedded microprocessors (8 and 32-bit, C/C++) and DSPs (C/Assembly) is desirable.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS
High standard of analytical skills for problem solving are required for this position.
Excellent interpersonal skills, for resolving technical issues.
Use of a standard schematic capture program.
Use of a standard microprocessor family from 8-bit to 32-bit.
Use of standard engineering change management system.
Digital hardware debugging, including use of digital oscilloscopes and analyzers.
Ability to read C and at least one assembly language.
Analysis of digital electronics (and firmware operation desired).
Use of MS Office (notably Word, Excel).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BSEE or equivalent. MSEE preferred.
5
years experience as a design engineer in embedded electronics.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
