Exclusive client Two Openings Transmissions Tier 1 SupplierPOSITION SUMMARY We are looking for a highly motivated engineering professional for a challenging position as a program engineering leader.
The position is expected to coordinate and perform design and development engineering, interface with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customer engineering, and lead cost reductions.
Central activities include design change, customer communication, authoring of validation plans, root cause analysis, and cross-functional team leadership.
Typical product engineering functions include scientific problem solving for product function issues, communication of application, design and assembly issues between functional teams, and leadership for product and process improvements.
This person will work closely with component release engineering, manufacturing, assembly, resident product engineering and quality departments.
Interface includes internal team members, suppliers and customers to coordinate changes and new launches.
The position reports to the manager of product engineering.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESParticipate as a leader in the product engineering team.
Serve as a key member of the Simultaneous Engineering Group along with members of program management, sales, purchasing, quality and manufacturing.
Work with design staff to prepare concepts, layouts and drawings of new productsWork with Design Release, NVH and CAE engineers to ensure that components and the overall product perform at the required levels.
Work with ECU, Software and Calibration Engineers to ensure integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
Direct validation engineers to prepare the appropriate fixtures and complete testing requirements.
Be familiar with key quality methods used at corporate including ADV plans, DFMEA's, DFM/DFA process, and APQP.
Work with customers to ensure product meets performance, packaging and service ability requirements.
Actively support purchasing with supplier interface.
Work with Resident Product Engineers to ensure product meets manufacturing requirements.
Lead the engineering change process for supported products.
Lead prototype build activities.
Facilitate reviews and collaboration between plant engineering, design engineering, and OEM customer engineering teams.
Evaluate torque transfer products in vehicle for function and noise issues.
Analyze warranty data and opportunities for design and process improvement.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEMinimum of a Bachelors in Engineering required (Mechanical Engineering preferred)Minimum of 5 related work experience required; 8
years preferredExcellent communication skills requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requiredExperience in 4x4 Driveline components is preferredManufacturing and assembly process knowledge is preferredExperience with Root Cause Analysis preferred.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
