Med.Mal. Litigation Legal Assistant

A Columbia, SC Law Firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to support 2 attorneys predominantly in the areas of Professional Malpractice and Insurance Defense.
DAY TO DAY
Responsibilities:
oHandle all aspects of case management
oPrepare pleadings/discovery d
oDictation
oCoordinate communication with outside counsel, court officials, process servers, etc. via verbal & correspondence
oCompose legal letters
oCalendar events and deadlines for attorneys
oDraft and enter budgets through case management system
oMaintain document filings, case lists and samples for form letters/documents
oFilings within the federal filing system
oDraft incoming correspondence received by attorneys
oCheck County, State & Federal Court Rosters for pending hearings on open files
oComplete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-Must have at least four years Litigation experience (preferably in Professional Malpractice) and will have worked with large volume cases.
-Will be detail-oriented and highly organized.
-Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize competing deadlines is a must.
-Type 55
wpm
-Proficient in Microsoft Office
-Experience with case management software is preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
