Responsibilities:
Directs and coordinates all activities of production department ensuring the production and shipment of products in a safe, cost-effective and environmentally sound manner that maintains high standards for product quality and is responsive to customer needs and production requirements. Leads and manages Production Supervisors overseeing the production processes.

The Production Manager position, located in Rockland, Maine, will direct and coordinate all activities of production initiatives to ensure the production and shipment of products in a safe, cost-effective and environmentally sound manner that maintains high standards for product quality and is responsive to customer needs and production requirements. The incumbent will also lead and manage Production Supervisors overseeing the production processes.
Production Manager manages the Hydrocolloid Production Department at Rockland to produce, on time, necessary volumes to meet cost, quality, and customer objectives consistent with the long term safe operation of the plant: additionally, the job holder is responsible for ensuring the optimization of staff support from Engineering, Maintenance, and technical and financial resources in maintaining, improving, and expanding the facility.
Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) Activities
Commitment to support RCMS by integrating the element of responsible care in their activities while placing a high priority on the protection of the environment, their employees and the public. This includes Safety team participation, Safety awareness, stewardship, and leadership as well as environmental safety, and task force assignments. In addition, understanding, knowing, and implementing personal responsibilities as stated in the RCMS roles and responsibilities document.
Safety
Provide the leadership and direction to develop and maintain an accident-free working environment in the production areas and site wide
Develop and implement the operating systems and procedures to ensure Rockland production processes are in compliance with CPG Process Safety Standards
Maintain and improve compliance with process safety management and all related OSHA regulations
Customer Service
Establish and maintain effective communications with Division Sales, Marketing, Management and our customers to identify and meet customer needs consistent with the overall business objectives
Produce and ship, on time, the quality products required to meet customer needs
Manager of Department
Provide effective leadership of the human resources of the department with emphasis on planning, teamwork, developing and training for all employees to meet plant and division objectives and priorities
Ensure that plant policies and procedures are communicated and consistently implemented and high ethical standards are maintained
Ensure that the FMC Performance Management Process for all pay for performance employees is implemented effectively throughout the department, and that effective operator training programs, operator progression plans, and recognition systems are in place for all skill-based employees
Create a strategy for development and building a succession program
Cost Control
Establish budget standards and ensure effective control of costs including material efficiencies, rate efficiency, labor, and operating supplies and services
Ensure that inventory levels are kept at the Division's targeted levels consistent with sales demand
Establish personnel objectives and process standards that require continuous improvement in operating efficiencies and cost reductions
Quality
Procedure, blend and package quality, in-spec product with continuous improvement in process capability
Ensure that the Rockland plant is operated in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards for the food industry
Establish a collaborative relationship with the quality department
Innovation

Required Education:
BS in Chemical Engineering or closely related field
Qualifications:
Developed skills and knowledge in business management, HR, financial control and technical knowledge of unit operations

years experience in process industry with a number of years in supervisory/management positions (Level I: 5-10 yrs. Level II: 10
yrs.)
Formal problem solving methodologies
PSM and OSHA compliance
MOC process
A knowledge/experience of colloidal technology would be preferable
Able to work in a demanding, high stress environment. Physically able to climb stairs and move throughout warehouse and manufacturing environment
