IV Therapy/PICC Line Registered Nurse
Full Time position Monday through Friday 8AM to 430PM.
Weekend and holiday call coverage. The weekend and holiday call is 7a-7p.
PICC Line experienced RN.
Ocoee, FL area.
Responsibilities include:
o Initiates venipuncture according to physician's order.
o Possesses knowledge of varied IV access routes and assesses patient to identify appropriate method.
o Evaluates problems that affect delivery of IV fluids.
o Enforces department policies in regard to IV starts and dressing changes.
o Monitors venous access lines daily: assists to change dressings as indicated.
o Serves as a resource person for staff nurses.
o Documents appropriate data on the patient record.
o Utilizes expertise of other professionals in providing learning opportunities.
o Participates in presentation of IV therapy class.
o Collaborates with Staff Development Clinical Instructors to provide educational resources for staff.
o Inserts PICC line and mid-line I.V. catheters, determines placement via x-ray follow-up and documents the procedure.
o Assists staff by monitoring PICC and mid-lines, declotting, performing dressing charges and discontinuing catheters with or without catheter tip cultures.
o Assists with difficult peripheral I.V. insertions.
o Plans, evaluates and implements interventions for solving I.V. related patient care problems
o Provides I.V. therapy instruction and/or information to nursing staff, students, physicians, patients and their families.
o Participates in research and quality improvement studies related to I.V. therapy.
o Keeps current on advances in I.V. therapy.
o Meets with sales representative to evaluate new products or discuss product capabilities or deficiencies.
o Other duties as assigned
Qualifications include:
o Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor's degree preferred.
o Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices.
o Full command, verbal and written, of the English language.
o Current Health Certificate (if applicable).
o Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
o One year prior professional nursing experience preferred.
o Current BLS card.
o Successful completion of screening tests for the clinical specialty area(s) in which the RN practices with a score of 80% or greater
