Tooling Engineer (Molding)

Our client, located in Gaffney, South Carolina, has an immediate need to fill the position of Tooling Engineer (Molding).

Job Description
This position will be responsible for supporting production in a compression molding facility that supports the heavy truck and leisure craft industry. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, optimizing mold performance, tooling modifications, and repair and troubleshooting of compression molds with engineering/process engineering support.

Duties and Responsibilities
Experience with medium to large molds, fitting, polishing, and various tool room machine operations is required. The ability to read and work from blueprints as well as a basic working knowledge of all tool room machinery, such as lathe, mill, grinder, and layout procedures is required.

Skills and Competencies
o Work safely at all times.
o Ability to use lathe, milling machine, surface grinder.
o Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, air tools.
o Read hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic prints.
o Basic computer skills including Microsoft office outlook.
o Ability to read and interpret blueprints for making parts.
o Knowledge of hydraulic presses and their systems.
o Locate and interpret information from manuals, etc. and apply it.
o Ability to obtain a forklift license.
o Reorder stock as needed.
o Complete assigned work on time.
o Willingness to train others.

Education and Experience
o High School diploma or GED. Associate's Degree or higher preferred
o Flexibility in work schedule to provide coverage on all shifts
o Ability to work overtime as needed.

Competencies
o Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
o Knowledge of TS16949 and ISO14001.
o Must be able to pass the Nocti tooling test at Spartanburg Tech with an above average score or better.
To be considered for this position, the candidate must possess these
Qualifications:
o Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
o 5
years of tool room machining experience with medium to large molds, fitting, polishing, and various tool room machine operations.
