Accounting Manager - Seal Beach, CA

Our client is seeking an accountant manager for their Seal Beach, CA location. For over 65 years, our client offers a range of equipment and services available to the industry. A supplier of temporary steel storage tanks to the oilfield industry. Our client has grown into the largest and most experienced containment, pump, filtration and shoring company in the world. With over 100 locations nationwide and international operations in Europe, Canada and Mexico.

Position Duties:
Overseeing the capitalization of costs related to fixed assets, managing capital leases, fixed asset impairment testing, reviewing internal software development to identify capitalizable activities and overseeing the capital accrual process.
Manage a team, responsible for closing and reconciling Fixed Assets monthly, working closely with upper management and our foreign subsidiaries.
Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain compliance with SOX.
Manage 2 direct reports with a positive attitude, leadership and a strong ability to multi- task.
Maintain a customer service relationship with other members of the organization, including but not limited to preparing detailed monthly reports for Management and responding to field inquiries.
Liaise with internal and external audit on data requests.
Work closely with Operations to ensure the proper accounting and approval of capitalization work orders.
Work closely with Accounts Payable for proper recognition and coding of inter-company activity and capital- specific invoices.
Serve as key player in highest priority company- wide initiative to improve the tracking and reporting of capital.
Research account fluctuations and provide a detailed explanation of variances.
Proactively design and implement policies and procedures surrounding impairment testing, capitalization rules, and process improvements.
Manage periodic physical inventory counts.
Perform Ad hoc reporting and research.

Position Skills:
Solution oriented, can do attitude.
Demonstrated understanding of fixed assets, CIP, the impact of multi currency, inter company transactions and impairment testing.
Good knowledge of US GAAP and a willingness to research and resolve technical and operational accounting questions.
The ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities is needed for success.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional Excel.
Ability to work within a changing environment.
SAP/FAS/Crystal Reports software experience.
Position Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Approx. 5 years of experience, public accounting experience.
CPA.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
