Staff Audiologist

This position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service at the Canandaigua Medical Center and Rochester Outpatient Clinic.
The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the medical center including all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the service.
The audiologist at this level conducts a full range of audiology and balance evaluation and treatment intervention, including fitting and selection of hearing aids and assistive devices, auditory (aural) rehabilitation, and counseling of the hearing-impaired veteran and their family.
The incumbent is responsible for their own travel to facilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
o Independently providing complex services to those patients displaying unusually severe and/or multiple impairments within a large geographical area o Conducting compensation and pension examinations, the results of which will be utilized in the assessment of hearing impairment for adjudication and medico-legal purposes o Counseling Veterans and their families, and other persons responsible for his/her care, about the nature, degree, and effect of hearing impairment and treatment options o Performing special audiological procedures for a diverse range of disease conditions (site of lesions tests, ABR, and ENG/VNG) for the purpose of differential diagnosis of auditory and balance disorders o Responsible for fitting and selection of all types of hearing aids; ear impressions; programming of digital hearing aids; selection and fitting of assistive devices and assistive listening devices such as personal and FM amplifiers, telephone amplifiers, etc.
; inspection, modification, and repair of amplification devices and ear molds; tinnitus management, and hearing conservation for employees at risk for noise exposure o Providing a comprehensive program of aural (auditory) rehabilitation for hearing-impaired patients and/or groups.
Such programs may consist of instruction in the effective use of amplification, listening strategies, and optimizing residual hearing.
o Assisting the supervisor of clinical audiology in the instruction and supervision of student trainees in audiology.
He/she may also provide instruction to residents and interns who seek information relation to audiology.
o Participating in research activities pertinent to clinical audiology.
Although limited research is conducted in the clinical setting, the use of carefully executed audiologic procedures may be a part of a research design.
The incumbent may be requested to assist in gathering clinical research data.
o The incumbent will be responsible for the proper maintenance and calibration of the specialized electroacoustic instrumentation.
The incumbent must have a considerable knowledge of the technical aspects of both the clinical instruments as well as the calibration instruments.
o Maintaining a high degree of professional competence through continued education o Completing all documentation in accordance with facility policy o The incumbent may perform other ancillary assignments as assigned.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
