Work Schedule:
Rotating shifts, Sunday through Saturday (Will be working when Supervisory Police Officer is not).
MAJOR DUTIES:
The position is located within Police Service directly under the Supervisory Police Officer GS-08.
The Lead Police Officer assists the Lieutenant and management representatives in the general operation, coordination, and direction of the assigned duty personnel.
The incumbent's primary duties are the performance of law enforcement work for the preservation of the peace and the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes occurring on Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) controlled property.
The incumbent also leads a unit or team of at least three GS-0083-06 Police Officers; Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload; Keeps in touch with the status and progress of work, and makes day- to day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise; Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and makes available written instructions, reference materials and supplies; Maintains a current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc.
and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up; Checks on work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review (e.

, filing or direct services) and reviews completed work to see that supervisor's instruction on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met; Amends or rejects work not meeting established standards, refers to supervisor questions or matters not covered by standards and problems in meeting performance standards; Monitors working conditions such as seating, ventilation, lighting, safety, etc.
; Approves leave for a few hours or for emergencies; Informs employees of available services and employee activities; Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor; Reports to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems; Provides information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignment, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs.
This is a BARGAINING UNIT position.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
