Shipping/Receiving Clerk


Responsibilities:
The Shipping / Receiving Clerk will verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment. They will compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure shipments to verify information against bills of lading, packing lists, purchase orders or other records.
Key responsibilities include the following:
Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
Will practice good housekeeping practices to keep work areas safe and organized
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers
Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine
Affix shipping labels and instructions onto packed cartons, crates or containers
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with manufacturing to rectify damages and shortages
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
Operate lift truck to move shipments from storage or work area
May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments
Assist in manufacturing assembly department to expedite shipments
To be considered for this position an applicant must meet these minimal requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have at least 2 years verifiable experience in shipping / receiving
Must be able to use a computer with Microsoft Office products and other programs
Must pass a general pre-hire shop math test
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs consistently
Must have genuine desire to be the BEST and demonstrate an outstanding work ethic
Must take pride in your work, in your work environment and work well as a team player

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
