JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPIRATORY THERAPY
POSITION: RESPIRATORY THERAPIST
DEPARTMENT: ADMINISTRATION
EMPLOYEE NAME:
EFFECTIVE DATE: JANUARY 1, 2009
EVALUATED BY: BRANCH MANAGER
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide respiratory therapy equipment, setup, assessments and education to all patients requiring such services.
1. Maintains a complete listing of all current respiratory patients;
2. Provides initial and ongoing phone contacts with all respiratory patients;
3. Provides in-home visits to patients per policy and procedure;
4. Sets up respiratory equipment;
5. Educates patient and care givers as applicable and continues with patient follow-up, whether by phone or in-person, until such time as the patient and/or family and/or caregiver has a complete and thorough understanding of the safety and proper use of equipment provided, cleaning and infection control procedure, disease process and quality of life issues;
6. Monitors ongoing function of respiratory equipment;
7. Maintains proper documentation for services provided;
8. Performs other duties as required by state licensure law;
9. Maintains continuing education as necessary for performance of job responsibilities and as required for state licensure;
10. Identifies, addresses or immediately informs supervisor of any client concerns, questions or problems that could not be answered or resolved at the time of interaction and assumes the responsibility of a satisfactory resolution;
11. Assumes on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications: Credentials as a respiratory therapist. Must be licensed in state of Texas. Must possess a current driver's license. Able to use common office equipment. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Ability to interact with older and disabled individuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of all respiratory equipment, function & use. Must posses knowledge of medical terminology and have excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to regularly lift and move weights up to 170 lbs.
POSSIBLE HAZARDS: Potential for exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
