Director of Quality and Regulatory Operations

The Director of Quality and Regulatory Operations will direct food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of domestic and international sales. Oversee administration of quality systems and documentation that ensures compliance with third party, regulatory, customer, and religious requirements. This position will also make regulatory and quality documentation available to customers, BAF Marketing, Sales, Technology, and Operations along with develop a QRO operating plan that aligns departmental goals with corporate strategic initiatives.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Use independent judgment to develop and implement a long term strategy to drive quality excellence in regards to food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance of domestic and international products produced at all divisions of Basic American Foods. Provide a transition of new products between Product Development and Operations. Review potential acquisitions for food safety and quality compliance.
Oversee the quality and regulatory expectations of ingredient and packaging suppliers.
Provide overall leadership to all organizational recall and product retrievals. Interact directly with the USFDA, USDA, and any customers to meet food standards set by individual entities.
Provide expert guidance and council for customers and top management as required. Direct compliance of customer requirements for quality, GMP/food safety, and product specifications. Review and approve customer contracts relative to meeting customer requirements of food quality and food safety.
Provide strategic direction for the administration and development of the Technology Information Management Exchange that is the backbone of BAF Quality Systems, Policies, and Procedures. Make regulatory and quality documentation available to customers and BAF Marketing, Sales, Technology, and Operations.
Facilitate and direct the strategic goals of the QRO department to meet the individual needs of each facility and align the goals with corporate strategic initiatives.

Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.
Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.

All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Quality and Regulatory Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor of Science degree and preferably a Master of Science degree and ten to twelve years related experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
