We are looking for Quality Managers with Managerial experience who have functional responsibilities for
the development of the quality assurance group and to manage, plan, organize, integrate, measure and
report a program of total quality control for a key client in Detroit, Michigan.

What you'll do!

Responsibility for support and execution of the annual Divisional Quality targets established for the plant (concerns & PPM)


Manage plant Quality System to include coordination and execution of the Concern Management Process (inc. lead responsibility for complex problem solving where necessary)

Train and develop Quality Engineers to ensure a culture of Continuous Improvement (C.I.) within the plant Quality Department

Develops and implements new site-specific Level III & Level IV procedures to continuously improve plant QOS

Responsible for implementation of necessary resource & training within the plant QA area to support plant QOS, Manufacturing Engineering and Customers

Provides technical assistance & support to the Customer Service Managers (CSM)

Provides technical assistance & support to Advanced Quality & Program Launch Managers
Maintains Customer satisfaction through support of CSM's & Tier #1 Assembly Plant Quality Engineers, by ensuring rapid & thorough responses to quality concerns caused by Tier #2 Machining Plant

Ensures establishment of and compliance to Procedure Maintenance & plant Quality Operating System (QOS)

Maintains Customer satisfaction with GKN Quality through regular Auditing of plant activities & execution of identified Continuous Improvement (C.I.) projects

Leads plant Management Review process to identify improvements and monitor progress of C.I. activities

Confers with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to assist with resolution of any internal or external quality concerns (inc. scrap, suspect material, non-conforming material requiring deviation, etc.)

Coordinate and lead periodic training sessions to keep personnel updated on current & new procedures, methods, tools, use of equipment and other quality assurance techniques

Ensures the maintenance, updating & compliance to specific requirements necessary to support the GKN business model (e.g. TS 16949, ISO 14000, Customer-specific requirements, etc.)

Functions as part of the Plant Leadership Team
Develops and maintains EH&S programs and ensures compliance of those programs while working with Regional EH&S within GKN to ensure that we are meeting or exceeding regional criteria



What you need to possess to be successful!

7-10 years experience in Quality Assurance with at least 4 years in supervision.
Experience in an ISO9000 and TS16949 environment is preferred.
Experience in ISO14001 is a plus.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
Lean Enterprise experience.
Computer Skills (MS Word, Excel, MS Project, MfgPro, Kronos, Access).
Good verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
Good organizational and prioritization skills.
Excellent Mechanical skills
Proficient in the use of personal computer and programs: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint.
Skilled in CAD with the ability to learn and use new CAD programs. AutoCad and Pro-Engineer experience
is preferred.
Demonstrate technical understanding of programming automated systems.
Experience with Torque, Press and Gaging equipment in daily production.
Experience with Error Proofing / Poka Yoke methods. Four-year Manufacturing Engineering Degree
or equivalent degree in closely related field - required.
Formal training in Robotics - preferred
3
years experience in assembly environment - metalworking industry preferred


Formal qualifications required:

B.S. Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related degree.
