Summary Description:
Performs assembly of standard and non standard power transmissions and their subassemblies.
Normally works with team to complete units but may solo in a team environment.
Works with and has knowledge of blue prints, parts lists, assembly cards, quality documentation and protocols.
Has some knowledge of all assembly functions.
Has some knowledge of product line.
May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Job Functions Assembly:
1.
Verifies all paperwork related to unit or order.
Checks parts to parts list, assembly card, and order acknowledgement.
2.
Checks parts for cleanliness and visually inspects parts for defects.
3.
Cleans and prepares parts as required.
4.
Cleans and assembles any subassemblies as required 5.
Cleans and assembles internal gearing.
6.
Cleans and set up housings on stands.
7.
Assembles internal lube systems in housings.
8.
Assembles oil dams, oil pipes, and sub-assembled gearing into housings.
9.
Assembles housings, components, and subassemblies together to make a complete unit.
10.
Sets bearing endplays per drawings or assembly cards.
11.
Assembles external lube systems as required.
12.
Responsible for overall correctness of assembly process for the gear unit before test 13.
Performs any after test or paint assemblies as required 14.
Assembles and aligns units, base plates, couplings, accessories, and motors as required 15.
Directly oversees lower grade assemblers and clean up personnel.
16.
Uses quality documents, work standards, ISO specifications to diagnose and correct problems 17.
Gives input for fixtures as required Marginal Job Functions:
1.
Removal of scrap skids and refuse created during the assembly process.
2.
Assist in the set up of the completed unit at the test stand.
3.
Initiates orders for tools and supplies 4.
May operate lathe as required 3.
Performs general cleaning to keep work area as clean as possible.
NECESSARY PRIOR
Experience:
If, in order to do this job at a minimum satisfactory level, the employee must have had prior work experience in a particular kind of job in the company, or in a similar job with a different employer, state the kind of such experience that is required:
1.
Typically has 1
years prior experience in power transmission or heavy equipment environment.
2.
Advanced mechanical skills.
3.
Knowledge and experience with blue prints, work standards, ISO and quality documentation 4.
Some knowledge of basic gearing, bearings helpful 5.
Lathe experience helpful but not required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A combination of formal education, training and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by an experienced high school graduate.
