Become a Foster Parent!

Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) is a child placement agency serving the Denver and Colorado Springs areas. SKSF is currently seeking single or two parent families with big hearts to open their homes to abused & neglected children and become therapeutic foster parents. SKSF facilitates all types of foster care placements and has a special emphasis on providing services for individuals with disabilities. There is currently a high need for therapeutic foster parents able to take adolescents into their homes.
BENEFITS
o You will be introduced to a child who needs a safe and stable home. The impact that our foster families have on these children is amazing. You will know you are making a difference in the life of a child.
o You will become the most important link in the treatment team for this child. Your foster child will rely on you to help them maneuver through their treatment plan by supporting them with home life, schooling, peers, family relationships, and providing transportation to necessary appointments and visits as applicable. SKSF staff will meet with you to provide the necessary training and requirements for you to become a licensed foster parent. This training is absolutely free to you.
o When you become a foster parent we will assign you a Home Supervisor to help you navigate the ongoing journey of foster parenting. Our Home Supervisors exist to be available to you, to answer any questions you may have and to support you in your parenting of children that can be difficult at times (due to their background). You will be given ongoing support, training, and encouragement from your Home Supervisor.
o Financial Reimbursement for care and supervision. To assist in the care of your foster child(ren), you will be reimbursed for expenses on a general range of $600-$2000 nontaxable monthly income depending on the special needs of your child (counted as reimbursement, not a salary and shouldn't be considered the only source of income). Medical care for your foster child is covered 100% by Medicaid.
REQUIREMENTS
As a part of the application process, we are required to conduct background checks, complete a family assessment including all members living in the home, administer a home inspection that you will be guided through, and provide the necessary training for certification. Applicants to provide care must be 21 years of age and demonstrate a stable home life. Please contract (719)447-8983 Program Director Sandra Dunlap at Ext. 15 for more information.
